Ask The Experts About Asus Pad Computers

Mandy asks…

What does it mean to ‘bootcamp’ a computer?

I came across the following phrase in another answer, but the respondent doesn’t accept email or IM.

“Buy a cheaper computer from HP or Asus or Dell or whatever. bootcamp it to use the mac OS”

My Mac recently died and I am stuck with the IBM Think Pad running Chinese XP. I would DEARLY love to make it run OSX… tell me how, tell me now.

admin answers:

Bootcamp is a program for Mac computers thats lets you boot up your computer in Xp, Vista or some other operating system, which also means you can run windows applications on your Mac.

Boot Camp divides the hard disk into Windows and Mac partitions, installs the necessary drivers and creates a “dual boot” environment.Boot Camp does not provide a virtual machine capability such as found in Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion. Windows and Mac applications are not run simultaneously. At startup, the user must choose which OS to use and must reboot to switch to the other environment.
